Kaduna suicide bomb attack update; Eight confirmed dead



National Emergency Management Agency this afternoon confirmed eight persons dead in a suicide bomb attack on St. Monica’s Catholic Church in Ungwan Yero near Malali, Kaduna.
One version said two suicide bombers rammed a vehicle laden with explosives into the packed congregation during morning mass around 8.30a.m today.

Another version said a suicide bomber tried to force his vehicle into the church but was stopped by security agents.
He then detonated the explosives in his car, killing himself and seven others and injuring the presiding priest and over 100 others.

The NEMA statement by its spokesman, Yushau Shuaib, reads,

“Kaduna Updates: NEMA rescuers in collaboration with stakeholders have so far confirmed eight dead and over 100 people injured from bomb explosion/attacks in Kaduna today.
“This figure as at 1.45pm after an inspection.”
